We managed to catch up with Chief Executive Officer at Seartec, Mark McChlery, and find out more about him and his future plans for the office automation industry.
Here’s how it went down:
- What are some of the toughest decisions you had to make in the last few months?
The toughest decision is always the first decision, In the short time leading up to our re-launch we had to chart the course. A process that began in February 2014, following 3 exhaustive months of thought, introspection and scientific analysis. Once the vision and objectives were finalised all decisions from that point on followed logic and were relatively easy. In “re-jigging’ an organisational design the most difficult decision lies in where to start. The practical implications on business continuity are always front of mind.
- To what do you attribute your success?
Success is subjective; To reach planned milestones with little effect on the core business continuity in itself is a success. But to have a character where perfection is the standard, and curiosity develops the picture further complimenting your capacity to navigate new roads – is what puts me in a position to always challenge myself and the status quo. From there the perception of being successful is only linked to the fact that I am always moving forward.
- What motivates you?
Development. To add value and create value to what I am doing. If I can complete a project and have more knowledge than I did when I started and if that project has changed the landscape of the ecosystem in which it existed; my motivation is stronger for the next project.
- Who has been your greatest inspiration?
Without a doubt it would be my brother Craig, with his strong minded approach to building his own business organically with a solid focus on quality and integrity.
- What would you most like to learn here that would help you in the future?
How to harness the skill I have developed in the SME space and evolve it to a Big Business mindset.
- What is the main objective and what are goals of Seartec at this moment?
Right now our focus is to establish the platform for growth, by developing people, product suite, position in the market and our platform for innovation.
