Nintendo Switch Online App now Available for Download on Android and iOS

With Splatoon 2 hitting the Nintendo Switch this week, Nintendo has decided to make the Nintendo Switch Online app available for download on Android and iOS devices. This will allow you to add friends, set up matches with them and talk to them in Splatoon 2 with other games to join in soon.

There isn’t full functionality yet, considering Splatoon 2 isn’t officially out till 21st July. However, you will be able to add your Nintendo account details to it right now. It releases early as during the Splatoon 2 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed that it will release the app on July 21, the same day as Splatoon 2.

At the moment, impressions of the Nintendo Switch Online app from reviewers with access to Splatoon 2 claim it’s ‘half-baked’ while interfering with Bluetooth audio on devices unless it’s closed. The best thing would be to give it a go, only after Nintendo updates the app, fixing the nitty gritty.

Nintendo on mobile may not be available for many countries. However, you can access it by sideloading the APK much like Pokemon Go for Android. If you’re on iOS, a US account can be used to download it.
