Apple Unveils New iMac with M4 Chip and Vibrant Colours

Apple has once again raised the bar with the unveiling of its latest iMac, powered by the impressive M4 chip and enhanced with Apple Intelligence. This new model is not just about performance upgrades; it also brings a fresh look with vibrant new colours. Let’s dive into the details of this exciting release…

The star of the show is undoubtedly the M4 chip, which offers up to 1.7x faster performance for daily tasks and 2.1x faster performance for demanding workflows like photo editing and gaming compared to the previous M1 chip. The M4 chip features a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine, making it the world’s best all-in-one for AI.

Apple Intelligence is a game-changer, transforming how users work, communicate, and express themselves while protecting their privacy. This personal intelligence system includes features like Writing Tools, which help users summarize, rewrite, and proofread text. More AI features are expected to roll out in December, promising an even more enhanced user experience.

The new iMac boasts a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with a new nano-texture glass option that reduces reflections and glare, making it perfect for well-lit environments. The front-facing camera has been upgraded to a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, allowing users to show both their face and workspace during video calls.

For the first time, the iMac supports up to two external displays with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz or one external display with up to 8K resolution at 120Hz. It also features Thunderbolt 4 ports and colour-matched accessories like the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse with USB-C instead of Lightning.

Apple continues its commitment to sustainability with the new iMac, which uses 100% recycled aluminum in the stand and 100% recycled gold plating, tin soldering, and copper in multiple printed circuit boards.

The new iMac is available in a vibrant array of colours: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. These colours are available for all models, allowing users to personalize their workspace.

The new iMac starts at $1,299 (approximately R23,195) with 16GB of unified memory, configurable up to 32GB. Pre-orders start today, with availability beginning on Friday, November 8.

Apple’s latest iMac is a testament to the company’s ongoing innovation and commitment to user experience. With the powerful M4 chip, enhanced Apple Intelligence features, and a fresh look, it’s set to be a favorite among users of all kinds.
