Previously in March, Chen had reaffirmed BlackBerry’s plan for Windows Phone smartphones saying its BBM app will be released by second quarter followed by the Lumia devices and Nokia X platforms, where it will also be available as a pre-installed app on new devices.

John Chen also showed off the long-rumoured square-shaped which was previously dubbed as the ‘Windermere’ smartphone, but is now officially known as the ‘BlackBerry Passport.’ The device is scheduled to be launched in September at an event in London but in regards to pricing, no details have been revealed yet.

The Blackberry Passport device is rumoured to pack a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 1440×1440 pixels with a 453ppi pixel density. Specs involve 3GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 3450mAh battery.
