Even though FIFA 17 may have been criticized a bit more than what had been expected, this still surely won’t put out the fire in its commercial success of the series.
So how does our favourite players actually get judged and ranked, giving them a number to represent their skills, abilities, and intelligence among other attributes?
According to Michael Mueller-Moehring, The producer at EA Sports, has stated that this begins with guesswork which is then followed by 9,000 reviewers of data. These consisting of professional scouts, coaches, and season ticket holders who have been watching matches in person long enough to provide solid feedback on players through a secure website.
The statistics are not taking into account very specific circumstances. For example, when you look at passing completion, if you play for Bayern Munich or if you play for Manchester City or if you play for Pep Guardiola, if your system is based on possession, you will have more successful passes than other players, but this doesn’t necessarily make you a better passer.
The league a player is playing in is also taken into consideration. So for instance, if Messi were playing in the Irish league, his attributes would drop simply because he’s not on the highest level anymore.
The ratings seem to be adjusted according to actual performance data.
FIFA 17 will be released officially in South Africa on September 29.
