First Ever Augmented Reality Dealership Launched By BMW

Starting from Today – Customers of the BMW brand will be able to view the luxury carmaker’s hybrid and electric BMWi cars with augmented reality technology in a world first for car dealerships.

Using a smartphone, potential buyers can view and interact with a virtual car as if it were standing in front of them.

The devices that have been equipped with Google’s Tango technology has the ability to produce a life-size 3D image of the vehicle overlaid on the environment visible through the camera.

You will be able to open doors, activate lights as well as change the interior and exterior colour scheme at the touch of a single button.

This experiment will launch in a few dealerships across 11 of the biggest markets for the BMWi range which includes Britain, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States Of America.

BMW plans to make the application available via Google’s Play app store, allowing smartphone users to summon a car wherever they are… However, this is only once the test phase is over!
