eBucks Rewards has revealed that FNB and RMB Private Bank customers have earned in excess of R850 million in eBucks Rewards since level 5 of national lockdown. This is despite the restrictions on physical and online shopping activity during level 5 and 4 of national lockdown.
Chief Executive of FNB Retail and Private Banking, Raj Makanjee says, “We are proud to be providing real help to customers to better manage the impact of a global pandemic on their finances. Due to reliance on e-commerce, increased grocery shopping and home delivery requirements, our partnerships with Shoprite and Checkers, Takealot and Mr D Food have provided even more value to customers in the last six months. The ability to earn and spend eBucks with a range of partners in these difficult times has been a major highlight in our efforts to help customers manage their money.”
“During the course of national lockdown, we’ve seen customers rely heavily on their eBucks to cover day-to-day expenses while saving money to boost disposable income. Consequently, the spend to earn ratio was consistently over 90% and exceeded 100% for a period of 3 months. As the country increases economic activity, customers will have a vast opportunity to earn and spend their eBucks with more than 30 eBucks partners across South Africa. In addition to spend categories such as health and groceries, we are beginning to see improving activity in areas such as travel and entertainment ahead of festive season,” says Johan Moolman, CEO of eBucks Rewards.
This year, eBucks Rewards celebrates 20 years since inception. Over this period, customers have earned R14.2 billion in eBucks and received an additional R645 million in the form of discounts when spending eBucks. In recent years, the programme has been refined to help customers get even more value through instant rewards, rebates and tips on how to earn and spend eBucks. More importantly, eBucks continues to add more partners to give customers a wider choice and more value.
In recent years, eBucks Rewards has welcomed several valuable partners to the programme including Clicks, KAUAI, Takealot, KFC, Mr D Food (over 5000 restaurants), The Entertainer App which has over 300 000 registered FNB and RMB Private Bank customers as well as Wimpy and TaxTim to mention a few. In addition, partners such as Engen who are both our Earn and Spend eBucks partner continue to offer significant value where customers can earn up to R8 back per litre back in eBucks on fuel. On grocery spend, Shoprite and Checkers continue to attract the greatest share of FNB and RMB Private Bank customer spend in this category. Customers also earn up to 15% back in eBucks when shopping at Shoprite/Checkers store and on their Sixty60 App.
“The comprehensive range of partners enables customers to earn and spend rewards across a selection of categories. We are grateful for the loyal support of our customers and partners over the 20 years and we are committed to continue creating a rewards ecosystem which provides superior value. In the months ahead, customers can also expect a number of announcements with major brands that will add significant value to our customers,” concludes Moolman.
