Google Pixel and Pixel XL Specs & Release Date For South Africa

The Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL have officially been unveiled. These first ever Google-branded smartphones will replace Nexus phones as the leading devices designed by Google to showcase the best of Android.

The Google Pixel and Pixel XL are both powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, with two cores clocked at 1.6GHz, and two cores clocked at 2.15GHz. Both the devices will feature 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and include a Pixel imprint fingerprint sensor. They will also feature a 12.3-megapixel rear camera with a Sony IMX378 sensor, PDAF, a large f/2.0 aperture, and 1.55-micron pixels while the front camera is 8-megapixels coming with a Sony IMX179 sensor, an f/2.4 aperture, and 1.4-micron pixels.

Cellucity has estimated that the 32GB Pixel will cost around R9,999 and have officially opened pre-registrations for Google’s new range of Pixel smartphones.

At the moment there is no confirmed launch date for South Africa as yet, however these devices are set to be released on the 20th October 2016 in the the US, UK, Canda, Australia, and Germany.
