Pieter Pretorius, the Senior Manager in Strategic Marketing at Eskom, spoke at the pledge signing ceremony held in Cape Town yesterday. Pretorius pointed out that the initiative’s strategic intent was fully in-line with the new partnership and everything that Hisense stands for.

The collaboration is set to make a huge impact on efforts to encourage South Africans to lead an energy efficient lifestyle.

In the past, Hisense has always looked for ways to contribute positively toward the environment, with the main focus being energy-saving programmes. The brand aims to demonstrate their commitment to the public through the signing of the 49M pledge.

“When we launched our new manufacturing facility in Atlantis last year, we ensured that energy efficiency was at the hub of the products being manufactured at the facility by entering into the field of green eventing. Our close collaboration with Bluemoon and Earth Patrol produced a carbon neutral event called ‘Living Legacy’ that proved the industry and sustainability are on par”, commented Ebrahim Khan, Deputy General Manager at Hisense South Africa.

The total number of businesses that have pledged came to 135, and through signing they will all cut down on their energy usage by introducing various energy efficient solutions.
