Instagram has announced that its users can now live stream with a friend. The feature known as ‘going live with a friend’ can be found in version 20 of the Instagram app for Android and iOS. This version of the app is already live on the respective app stores in South Africa and will be rolling out globally in the coming weeks.
How to add a friend during your live stream?
- Tap the new icon on the bottom right
- Tap add to invite anyone who’s currently watching.
- Once they join, you’ll see the screen split into two and your friend pop up right below you
You will be able to remove the friend added to your live stream and add someone else at any time. Alternatively, that individual can also choose to exit on their own. You will also have the ability to share your live video to Stories when the broadcast has ended. If you do not wish to do that, you may choose to discard. The just simply means that the live video will disappear from the app.
When the friend is about to go live with a you, they will also see two circles stacked together in their stories bar. They also have the ability to tap on it to watch, as well as like and comment as they follow along.
