Sony has updated the UI design of its PlayStation Now app on the PlayStation 4 (PS4). This will make it much more easier to browse and choose games that you would like to add to your subscription.
The new look is very similar to the one that has been implemented by Netflix (a subscription service providing movies and TV shows)
This new user interface design will be more streamlined to the one before. There will be 3 parts to the new interface of PlayStation Now:
1. The landing page with the main grid view
2. Game details page
3. Launch screen
The landing page is split into 3 sections. The top one being featured games and recently added games below it. Below that will allow gamers to browse through game genres horizontally. The game details page is visually more attractive and appealing with a lot of artwork and blurry backgrounds overlaid with information about the game.
For the uninitiated, PlayStation Now app is a game streaming subscription service which gives gamers access to a library of PS3 games for a monthly fee of $19.99 (approximately R240).
Apart from the subscription service, gamers will also be able to rent games individually. However, you will not be able to rent games from the PlayStation Now app as Sony has moved individual game renting to the PS Store app.
At the moment, The PlayStation Now service is only available for US owners of a PS4 and it is also available as a private beta for selected individuals in the UK.
Currently, PlayStation Now offers around 100 games and it would serve Sony well if the number increases, as the recently concluded E3 2015 Microsoft had announced backward compatibility on the Xbox One for Xbox 360 games.
