Sony has unveiled a new version of the PlayStation 4 (PS4). It will be 10 percent lighter and use eight percent less energy. Comes at a good time for us South Africans as we now will be able to get more valuable game time from our alternative energy sources during load shedding. The new PlayStation 4’s hard drive bay cover will also feature a matte surface as opposed to the glossy one it currently has.
The new PS4 will be launched in Japan in late June, followed by the rest of the world later this month. It bears the same approximate R5000 price tag as the original version. In the meanwhile, the company also announced a 1TB version of the PS4, called the 1TB PS4 Ultimate Player Edition. No pricing for this has been confirmed yet, however, this edition is set to land in South Africa sometime in July this year.
The 1TB PS4 Ultimate Player Edition will begin launching at different part of the world from 15th July.
What makes the 1TB PS4 Ultimate Player Edition so exciting?
- It offers twice the storage of the existing PS4
- This mean you’re allowed to download more of the games you love to your PS4
- More amazing add-on content
- Save and share even more of your best gaming highlights.
With Microsoft confirming its 1TB Xbox One and an approximate R600 price cut prior to E3 2015, we can safely say that the announcement from Sony was a long time coming…
