Bolt today announced a major milestone in its global safety journey: South Africa now leads the world in dash cam adoption, with 2,724 local driver-partners actively using Bolt-approved dash cams to enhance safety for both riders and drivers. This places South Africa well ahead of other markets, with Nigeria following in second place with 1,596 dash cam users, and Paraguay ranking third with 1,028 users. The data underscores South Africa’s exceptional commitment to building safer, more transparent mobility through technology.
As safety expectations rise across the country, Bolt’s South African driver community has stepped forward with unmatched leadership, adopting dash cams at the highest rate globally. The result is not just a data point, it is a collective statement that safer mobility is essential, urgent, and non-negotiable.
Simo Kalajdzic, Senior Operations Manager at Bolt South Africa, highlighted the significance of this achievement: “South Africa’s drivers have shown the world what it truly means to put safety first. Their rapid adoption of dash cams sends a powerful message: when innovation meets community, real progress happens. Every dash cam installed is more than a device, it is a commitment to dignity, protection, and trust for every person who enters a vehicle. This milestone belongs to our driver partners, and it reflects the kind of future we are building for mobility in South Africa.”
Bolt confirmed that it will expand its dash cam program to additional provinces across South Africa, ensuring that more drivers can access and benefit from this critical safety technology. The company will continue collaborating closely with driver-partners, regulators, and safety organizations to raise the standard of urban mobility nationwide. These partnerships reflect Bolt’s long-term commitment to creating a safer, more transparent, and more resilient ride-hailing environment.
Safety remains Bolt’s highest priority, shaping every feature, investment, and partnership across the platform. With South Africa now leading the globe in dash cam adoption, surpassing major markets such as Nigeria and Paraguay, Bolt sees this milestone as the beginning of a new era where safety is strengthened through collaboration, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to protecting every journey.
