WeChat has partnered with one of M-Net’s biggest local reality shows, Survivor South Africa: Champions, to make voting free of charge for viewers. In an epic twist this past Sunday 24 March, it was revealed that audience members will be able to vote for their favourite Captain.
Voting opened during Sunday’s episode and runs until midnight on 14 May. At stake for the Captains is a R500 000 cash prize, to be awarded at the end of the season. Viewers also stand a chance to win R10 000 each week, courtesy of WeChat.
Voters will be able to save their airtime by downloading the We Chat all-in-one social app free of charge*. As an added extra, those who follow the shows Official Accounts (OAs) on WeChat will also be able to vote in polls and compete in weekly competitions.
MD of WeChat Africa, Brett Loubser, says that “WeChat is able to present a free voting option for viewers as well as simultaneously provide an engaging mobile and social experience beyond the TV screen.”
