Earlier this year, Twitter announced that you will be able to send Direct Messages aka DM’s to everyone including those that do not follow you. Twitter has once again risen to the occasion in the ever changing world of technology as they unveiled their new auto-playing video feature.
Although its not available on Android devices at the moment – Twitter’s new video auto-play feature will be accessible on both its’ site and iOS app. The Video Auto-Play comes with a few conditions that are both beneficial to the advertisers and Twitter users.
Twitter has added additional features such as the auto-play video turn off. Even though these videos can be muted, you will only be able to watch these videos when your WiFi is connected. Videos won’t play unless you click on them and have a network connection that’s working perfectly.
Users get control on whether or not to view the videos and just by clicking on the video. This will also allow users to view the video on full screen.
Twitter is thinking of adding more features on the app. One of the features planned includes recommended videos based on videos already watched by the users.
The success rate of the auto-playing videos isn’t much of a risk factor anymore as its a proven win across Facebook and Instagram making the decision makers at Twitter more comfortable with their decision.
Twitter is sure to make more changes in the future after not doing so well in the first quarterly results as well as the step down of their CEO, Dick Costolo.
Talking about more changes, Twitter users will be able to breathe a sigh of relief this July if all goes according to the roll out plan. The plan includes increasing the character count in your Direct Messages from 140 to about 10 000 characters.
Twitter is also looking to increase the number of characters on public posting but that’s still in the pipeline…
