Windows 10’s ‘Project Neon’ UI Revamp Leaked

Microsoft was rumoured to be working on an update to Windows 10 in November 2016, codenamed Project Neon, which was set to bring User Interface (UI) changes to the operating system. If there was any doubt about this being true or not, new leaked screenshots have certainly answered that for you!

The leaked screenshots clearly indicate that the company has placed lots of focus on transitions, animations and simplicity, almost as if they are going back to UI elements from earlier versions of Windows.

A new component called ‘Acrylic’ has also been rumoured to make its way into the operating system. This is nothing much more than the blur in the background, sidebar or the navigation of the app according to reports. A few changes have also been added to cater for Microsoft’s AR headset – HoloLens.

So far reports have suggested that the transition has been smooth with Microsoft also planning to tweak a few design elements in the taskbar as well.

Bare in mind that all of these UI changes are still in very early stages and most likely to take a totally different form by the time it’s actually rolled out. Project Neon is expected to be rolled out later this year whilst there is great expectation from Microsoft in revealing details about this at its Build developers conference in May.
