The FNB Banking App has won its most recent accolade, taking the 2014 App of the Year award at the MyBroadband 2014 awards ceremony announced at the My Broadband conference in Midrand today.
The MyBroadband 2014 App of the Year award is the most recent in a string of awards that the bank won since it launched its App in July 2011, such as the MTN App of the year, the TT100 minister’s award for overall excellence and Gold in the Bookmark Digital Core Awards for Applications and Tools in the Handheld/Phone Apps category.
“We are honored that our App has been acknowledged by MyBroadband and more importantly its readers and our customers as it demonstrates the ongoing growth and popularity of the FNB app,” says Sahil Mungar, FNB Digital Banking.
“Having been the first bank to launch a banking app for smartphones as well as a bespoke tablet banking app in South Africa, we are encouraged to see up to 100 000 people a month, who don’t bank with us, using our app to access their eWallets, check forex rates, and use Geo Payments, indicating a positive user experience,” continues Mungar.
Not losing sight of innovation, FNB most recently upgraded the Banking App across all the major operating platforms to leverage the uniqueness of each platform, giving users the best banking experience possible for the device the customer chooses to use. The upgrade also means that non-FNB customers can switch to FNB via the banking app without having to visit a branch.
“We find that regular users of the app that have discovered the convenience of the features available, such as payments, transfers, transaction histories and purchasing prepaid products are more in control of their finances with a significant portion of our customers logging in over 40 times per month,” concludes Mungar.
