Instagram have confirmed that they are currently testing a standalone messaging app called Direct, making it the company’s third chat tool alongside its hugely popular WhatsApp and Messenger.
This move is very similar to what Facebook did with its private messaging feature back in 2014.
According to Verge, the Instagram Direct app will only be available in Chile, Israel, Italy, Portugal, Turkey, and Uruguay, starting Thursday for both Android and iOS devices.
