Lucasfilm and Disney have announced a new mobile game, Star Wars: Rivals. The game is the first Star Wars-based real-time competitive action shooter for mobile devices. The app will be available for both Android and iOS devices. Characters from multiple eras of the Star Wars universe are featured in its lineup. With regards to gameplay, you can expect several combat arenas in which you can fight battles using the characters offered in the mobile game such as Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Jyn Erso, Captain Phasma among others.
At the moment, Star Wars: Rivals is currently up for pre-registration on Google Play (Android) and has been soft-launched in the Philippines App Store (iOS). The game will be free on both platforms, although it does have with in-app purchases that range from $4.99 (approximately R 60.00) to $99.99 (approximately R 1250.00)
The game has PvP arenas where players have the ability to fight battles across mobile platforms. Several real-time combat arenas are available to play in Star Wars: Rivals, the companies say, and characters (called Heroes) can be swapped in and out during the battle. Players can also unlock rare Heroes including popular characters like Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian, and Poe Dameron, each with different traits in the game.
Star Wars: Rivals offers weapons such as Chewbacca’s bowcaster, Han Solo’s DL-44 pistol, and Boba Fett’s EE-3 carbine rifle. Additionally, players can enhance special skills like Darth Vader’s Choke and Admiral Ackbar’s Orbital Strike. Arenas/ environments on the game are similar to those previously seen in Star Wars. These include Bespin, Scarif, Jakku, and Death Star.
