FNB Connect has introduced once off Mega Data bundles that will enable users to stream movies, play games and download at a cheaper rate, customers can get 50GB for R879 and 100GB for R1399 – available from 1 December 2017.
In October, FNB Connect announced that it will reward its customers with a windfall of 3.3 billion Megabytes of data for using the bank’s digital platforms. Since the announcement, FNB Connect has seen a 65% increase in daily data usage. The overall data usage has since increased by 76% in November alone.
“These bundles will be ideal for people who will be away on holiday and don’t have access to their traditional fibre or fixed LTE home offerings. Our focus is to ensure that our customers receive affordable data packages that will help them save and keep costs within budget over this festive season. Embracing digital banking with customer centric solutions has been a core focus and has provided customers with a gateway to easier and simpler 24/7 banking,” says Shadrack Palmer, Chief Commercial Officer at FNB Connect.
“The ease of purchasing any of the Connect packages or Smartphones through FNBs Online Banking platforms has empowered customers to manage their banking efficiently,” he says.
Palmer suggests the following tips to help customers better manage data and airtime:
- Buy Data Bundles as opposed to depleting your airtime balance at Out of Bundle data rates. Monitor your daily data usage and use that as a guide to set your monthly Data Bundle.
- Control your telco spend by using electronic features like real time call transaction history, ability to set bill limits and setting notifications.
- Automatic updates can use your data without you being aware of them. Disable automatic updates on your device and select “only update when connected to Wi-Fi”.
- Remember to disable Auto Play and Auto Download settings when Browsing Social Media. You can also stream videos and audio at lower definition (resolution/quality) to save data.
- Turn off “Background App Refresh” settings on your device to reduce unnecessary data usage.
- Browsing the mobile version of a website uses less data than if you browsed the desktop/full version of a website. Where possible select the mobile site option when surfing the net.
- Disable features such as Wi-Fi Assist on Apple devices as this software uses cellular data to improve the quality of Wi-Fi connections.
“Monitoring your data usage is important and will help you save on additional and unnecessary costs. It will also help you understand where your data and airtime is being used,” adds Palmer.
