A fresh leak of third-party lens protection covers offers an early glimpse of the colour palette Apple may introduce with its upcoming iPhone 17 lineup. Tipster Sonny Dickson shared images showing rings matched to each model’s finish, hinting at six hues for the standard iPhone 17, four for the slimmer iPhone 17 Air, and five for the Pro variants.
Apple’s next generation is expected to include four distinct models:
- iPhone 17 (standard)
- iPhone 17 Air (replacing the former Plus variant)
- iPhone 17 Pro
- iPhone 17 Pro Max
Each handset is rumoured to adopt a refined camera island design, a slightly repositioned Apple logo on Pro models, and aluminium middle frames supporting MagSafe charging.
The leaked covers, which align rim colours to actual handset finishes, reveal the following options for each model:
| Model | Colour Options |
|---|---|
| iPhone 17 | Black, Grey, Silver, Light Blue, Light Green, Light Purple |
| iPhone 17 Air | Black, Silver, Light Gold, Light Blue |
| iPhone 17 Pro/Max | Black, Grey, Silver, Dark Blue, Orange (likely Dark Gold/Copper) |
Apple’s choice of pastel-inspired Light Blue, Light Green, and Light Purple for the base model represents a bolder shift compared to the last generation’s more muted palette. The iPhone 17 Air’s Light Gold option adds a premium touch to the mid-tier device, while the Pro series’ Dark Blue and orange-toned Dark Gold/Copper hint at a more adventurous aesthetic for high-end buyers.
Because accessory makers match their camera-ring protectors and MagSafe cases to official finishes, these leaks also preview a wave of new case designs, skins, and camera protectors. Early visibility into Apple’s colour choices lets third-party vendors prepare inventory, ensuring ample variety at launch.
Apple typically unveils new iPhones in September. As final production models reach factories, we can expect further corroboration – through real-world photos and regulatory filings – of both colour options and minor design tweaks such as the repositioned logo and redesigned camera bar.
