The latest update to the iOS Instagram app (version 5.0.11) has removed the Auto-Sharing to Facebook feature and will now only let users share images to Facebook via the in-app share button.
But the question remains, Why was the feature removed?
– It is believed that the particular feature being used by app’s 200 million (and growing) monthly active users might clutter notification boxes and Facebook Timelines.
The application description on the iTunes listing page states “Updated Facebook share settings: Continue sharing your Instagram photos and videos on Facebook. But Instagram likes and activity will no longer be shared on Facebook”
At the moment, the update for the Facebook-owned Instagram is only available for iOS will soon be rolled out to devices running on Android via Google Play.
