Safelet, a wearable device to make our world a safer place, Launches an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign Today

Safelet, a bracelet that is connected to a smartphone (iOS and Android devices) and allows you to send out an emergency alert to your friends, family and the police with just one click. It is designed to offer women a better chance to fight against sexual violence using new technology and social network features.

The device is made as a slick fashion accessory and connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth BLE. A person can invite through social networks or an email as many people as she wants to join her “guardian network”. There is an option to include the whole “guardian community” in the network to get even more protection. “We want to create a world where there is always someone around to help you when you most need it.”(Herman Veenstra, a founder of Safelet). It also has an option to alert the closest law enforcement office.

The bracelet, when activated, will show the exact location of the sender. It also has a microphone to record the events.

Safelet is starting a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, the largest international platform supporting social impact projects, on June 10th. The company founders want to use the campaign not just to pre-sell the product, but to speak up about the problem of sexual violence.

The bracelet will be available for early supporters on Indiegogo for $99 ($30 discount from the retail price).
