Well, as South Africans, we all know about one Mobile Brand topping the market, which is falling drastically though. BlackBerry, been on the South African market for a few years now. Came with a “Bang”, saw itself rise higher as Mobile Operators competed on prices. We all know every age has to end at some point, especially if the Developers fail to impress, and sadly, BlackBerry has done so. The average pricing for a BlackBerry, compared to a Nokia, Samsung or Sony, is actually quite ridiculous. The main features and services that have carried the brand, Unlimited Web Browsing and Downloads, and BBM, which has now been capped, has seen yet another disappointment. With the high telecommunication rates in South Africa, for a mere R60, saw many South Africans seeing Blackberry as a good investment in the mobile world, but shortly disappointed, BUT, is it still better than paying for Data Plans and extra packages for another brand???…
A question many South Africans are now faced with indeed. IPhone, has surprisingly soared the South African mobile market in glory, seeing sales increase, especially with their release of the IPhone 4S a couple years back, and the recent launch of the IPhone 5, especially with the very reasonable prices that Mobile Operators have made it available by (see post Comparison in iPhone 5 Prices in SA). The IPhone, up and coming in the mobile market, has a fierce competitor, Android, which makes the decision making a bit more difficult. Android has seen their platform reach many Devices from Tablet Pc’s, to Smartphones, standard Handsets, and Laptop PC’s (not commercially available in South Africa). There is much assurance that Android will soon take over fully, that can be another contributing factor in your decision.
To sum it all up I would say, if you have that extra cash or willing to spend that extra bit on a new SmartPhone, go ahead with an Android Device, Windows 8 Mobile Device, or an IPhone. It all depends which one you prefer, many people are either an IPhone fan, or Android fan.
