Appliance manufacturer Defy (PTY) Ltd is proud to partner up with sprinting sensation Wayde Van Niekerk, designed to showcase ‘Homegrown products support home grown talent’.
Van Niekerk will be competing at the 20th Africa Senior Championships taking place from 22 to 26 June 2016 in Durban. This will be his last time on African soil before returning to training camp in Europe ahead of Rio 2016.
The track and field athlete continues to display excellent skill, even impressing four-time
Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt- who commented, “He has some speed. I must say, he does have some speed,” while they trained together in Jamaica.
The event held at Defy head offices in Jacobs is part of Defy’s ‘Defyning Memories’ campaign. The campaign was conceptualised in line with Defy’s stance of ‘home grown products supporting homegrown talent.’ Cherisse Erwee, Marketing Manager, Defy Appliances comments “Supporting Wayde is only natural for us as he embodies everything that our brand values – heritage, legacy, family, tradition and not forgetting innovative and sleek.”
Van Niekerk concludes, “I like getting involved on a more personal level with my sponsors, it’s not just about the partnership but more about fostering a relationship, so this visit will give me a chance to see how the company that has supported me, before I even win gold, works. Their belief in me regardless of the Olympic outcome is what inspires me.”
