Dora the Explorer to receive Durban’s Key to the City

When Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer and her friends arrive in Durban early next week, ahead of stage extravaganza Dora Live! Dora’s Pirate Adventure (Durban ICC, 1-3 July), they’ll be receiving more than just a big welcome from their fans – they’ll also be receiving an official ‘Key to the City’ at a special handover ceremony.

eThekwini Municipality Speaker, Cllr Loganathan ‘Logie’ Naidoo will be presenting the ‘Key to the City’ to Dora the Explorer on Tuesday, June 28th at 11:00am. The ceremony will take place at uShaka Marine World (arena 5) and fans of the adventurous TV heroine are invited to come along to attend the ceremony and join in the celebrations.

Commented Tasania Parsadh, Senior Channel Director, Nickelodeon: “This will be the first time that Dora the Explorer has brought this fantastic, interactive, Broadway-style stage show to Durban. And what better way to start off the tour than by giving Dora a warm Durban welcome and honouring her for her achievements around the globe, and for the joy that she has brought to so many children in South Africa.”

Kids and family TV favourite Nickelodeon (DStv channel 305) has teamed up with Life Like Touring and Blu Blood to bring Dora the Explorer and her friends to South Africa this winter. Dora the Explorer Live! Dora’s Pirate Adventure will take place at the ICC, Durban (1 – 3 July), Emperors Palace, Johannesburg (7 – 12 July), finally dropping anchor at the Grand Arena, GrandWest Casino, Cape Town (15 – 17 July).

Family and kids are invited to join Dora and her pals, Boots and Diego, on a voyage of discovery, as they embark on an exciting trip to Treasure Island in search of the ultimate pirate party. Help them navigate over the Dancing Mountain and through the Silly Singing Bridge in pursuit of the Pirate Piggies. Along the way, Dora the Explorer and her fans will use their problem solving, map-reading, counting, musical, and language skills to help Dora reach Treasure Island and avoid that pesky fox, Swiper!

Dora the Explorer is a play-along, animated adventure TV series following Dora and her best friends, Boots, as they explore the world. Since its launch in 2000, Dora the Explorer has emerged as a global phenomenon, seen around the world and translated into more than 30 languages.
