FNB Service Provider expands electricity offering to cover over 90% of municipalities across the country

FNB Service Provider has expanded its electricity coverage by increasing the municipalities it covers to 148 of 164. The expansion, which accounts for over 90% of municipalities in the country, will allow more FNB banked customers to purchase electricity easily and conveniently on the award-winning banking channels.

Sashin Sookroo, CEO of FNB Connect, says, “We are always looking to partner with organisations that will assist in the expansion of our solutions that help our valued customers. Our enhanced municipality coverage provides our customers with the flexibility and convenience to recharge their prepaid electricity through the FNB App and USSD, from anywhere and at any time. Additionally, customers can use their eBucks to pay. This eliminates the need for FNB customers to travel and/or potentially queue especially during month-end and when an emergency electricity top-up is required. We want to be able to offer our customers convenience and value for money, safely on-platform.”

In its recent interim results, FNB announced that over R6.8 billion worth of electricity was bought by its customers using its app and online channels from July 2022 to June 2023, a 16.0% year-on-year increase.

We are constantly refreshing our solutions to align with the step change in customers’ needs. This is also in line with our digital platform journey and ongoing commitment to empower our customers with tools to fully embrace an end-to-end digital experience,” concludes Sookroo.
