“This is the first time that a bank will be giving customers access to  music experiences of this nature to add value and engage customers,” says Ilse Smuts, Head of Marketing for Value Banking Solutions (VBS) at FNB. “We essentially started the move into lifestyle offerings in 2011 when we launched the smart device offer and more recently in the music space when we launched iTunes on App in 2013.”

New and existing Gold Cheque Account clients will have the option to choose to receive 100 free music downloads (20 per month for five consecutive months) from the world’s leading music company, Universal Music Group’s catalogue, concert tickets to international and local acts performing in SA, special “money can’t buy” experiences such as a lunch, a shopping spree or an exclusive house party with local music icons, as well as sought-after artist merchandise.

“The bank continuously seeks to enrich customers’ banking experience across the various banking products and platforms. It is believed that this addition to the Gold Cheque Account offer will give a wide range of potential and existing customers more than just a bank account but also exciting and exclusive experiences with memories to last a lifetime,” says Smuts.

“The partnership between Universal Music Group and FNB is an exciting new way for clients to engage with music and music experiences. While it’s an often repeated and overused cliché, music has the ability to touch and affect lives in numerous ways and on a multitude of levels,” says Randall Abrahams, MD Universal Music South Africa & sub-Saharan Africa. “FNB clients will soon have an opportunity to listen to a vast catalogue and experience a host of their favourite artists, including international superstars, at exclusive in concert appearances.”

The first concert to kick-off the partnership is a rooftop Showcase, featuring Mafikizolo, DJ Clock and Beatenberg. It will be held exclusively for FNB customers on the rooftop of the new FNB Portside Building in Cape Town for 100 lucky FNB customers and their partners in December.

According to Smuts, FNB is anticipating a positive market response and the bank will then consider extending the partnership to broader customer bases to share in the exclusive music experiences.

In addition to the music perks, new and existing customers will continue to enjoy all current Gold Cheque Account features such as free eBucks rewards on grocery and fuel purchases, free inContact messages, access to smart device deals, free Cash@Till™ withdrawals and free card swipes – all for R100 per month.

“At FNB we are of a strong belief that ongoing innovation should be part of customers’ package deal and it is the hope that this offer will be music to their ears,” concludes Smuts.
