It’s happened to most of us. You’ll be at a bar, at work, or simply standing in your driveway and it happens. The moment we all dread – your phone slips from your grasp, and seems to fall in slow motion, until it crashes facedown into the floor. Eventually, you muster enough courage to bend down and pick it up, only to come face to face with that which you feared most – a cracked screen.
For many of us, the process of getting our screen replaced is expensive. Not only does the screen replacement itself cost a lot, but the process is also time consuming. Because of this, a lot of us tend to put off taking our screens to get fixed in a bid to save some money and time. You’ll convince yourself that the damage “isn’t that bad” or “nobody else can see it”. However, regardless of whether the crack is miniscule or monstrous, one thing is for sure – the more you use your phone in this state, the more damage you’ll be doing.
Why you shouldn’t use a phone with a cracked screen
- Goodbye to your touchscreen
The first malfunctioning feature you’ll notice will probably be your touchscreen. Suddenly your password won’t enter as easily, and you have to punch in the numbers a few times before it registers. If you’ve got fingerprint access to your device, you’ll realise that this too will become a problem. But, it gets worse. If you insist on using your phone with a cracked screen, not only are you exposing yourself to small glass splinters, but you’re also putting your device at further risk. Oils, debris and dust are now able to get inside your phone – which could result in further internal damage.
- Goodbye to protection
This is an obvious one. A screen is a fundamental feature in protecting the internal parts of your device from any external damage. Bearing this in mind, something as simple as spilling a drop of water on your device, or wiping your phone screen with a wet wipe, makes your phone vulnerable to permanent damage.
- Goodbye to easy reading Not only is the crack a terrible sight to look at – probably making you cringe every time you pick up your phone – but now even something as simple as watching a series or reading an online article becomes a mission.
Huawei has the answer
Sooner or later, you’re going to have to face the music and get your screen seen to. Luckily, Huawei has gone the extra mile for cash-strapped consumers who find themselves with cracked screens. From 1 – 31 August 2019, Huawei will be offering screen replacements for R699. The price includes labour, VAT, and other fees, which saves Huawei users just less than R1,000 on the usual price. This special offer also includes a new Huawei battery and a 90-day workmanship warranty on your new screen.
The promotion applies to any of the following Huawei models: P8 lite (2017), P8 lite, P9 lite, P20 lite, P Smart 2018, P Smart 2019, P 10 lite, Y7 2018 and Y6 2019. The special runs on a first come, first served basis, with 95% of repairs expected to take a mere 24 hours. The fastest turnaround time will be at the Huawei Service Centres.
The promotion is available at Huawei Service Centres, selected Vodacom Repair Centres, and selected CelluCity Authorised Service Centres. They will try and charge you for the battery which will end up costing you R1000 more. Skelm company and run by morons in SA. I went and took my fone and they told me they have to replace the battery as well even though their own site advertises the battery and screen as separate items. Won’t support them at all. To think I’ve been buying huawei for 5 years and moved not just my whole family onto it but friends as well. Well get stuffed not anymore.
