In a time where environmental awareness is crucial for both individuals and companies, HONOR shines as a symbol of eco-consciousness in smartphone production. Through the development of the HONOR Magic V2, the company has made substantial efforts to reduce its environmental impact while enhancing user satisfaction. This is in line with their pledge to accelerate its sustainability and decarbonization efforts to reduce its carbon emissions by 88%, achieve 100% use of renewable energy and reach carbon neutral operations by 2045, which includes a 36% reduction in carbon emissions by 2035.

HONOR meticulously assesses the environmental impact of the HONOR Magic V2 through Product Carbon Footprint analysis. By considering factors like RAM, ROM configuration, and usage over three years, it ensures transparency and accountability in managing the device’s carbon footprint.

Here’s how HONOR prioritizes environmental responsibility throughout the lifecycle of the HONOR Magic V2.

Restrictions of Hazardous Substances

Complying with stringent European directives, HONOR goes above and beyond to eliminate harmful substances like Brominated Flame Retardants (BFR), Chlorinated Flame Retardants (CFR), and PVC. By adhering to regulations and restricting additional potentially harmful substances, HONOR reduces negative environmental impacts and promotes material recycling.

Energy Efficiency

The HONOR Magic V2 uses power-efficient components and software that intelligently manage power consumption, these measures can reduce greenhouse gas emissions during the use phase of the device. In addition, the Magic V2 including the charger meets energy efficiency requirements of EU ErP Directive EU2019/1782 and Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1275/2008 and (EU) 801/2013.

Material Selection

There is minimized materials used for the product and packaging and most of the material is recyclable and can be recycled easily at the disposal stage. In addition, the packaging is from FSC certified paper, all of which the packaging and manual is printed by soy ink. In order to reduce CO2 emissions, low carbon materials are recycled, and bio-based material have been selected in the product. For example, the mainboard frame and speaker box housing are made of bio-based plastic (bio-based content is more than 30%).

HONOR has reduced material waste at the end of the device’s life cycle through compact, easily disassembled, and environmentally friendly design. By utilizing recyclable materials, minimal waste is sent to landfills after professional recycling. In order to give a new life to the old ones, HONOR has cooperated with qualified third-party recycling companies through trade-in services, this project was launched in China first and will be extended to other countries in the future.
