WhatsApp has finally decided to enable the mention feature on its Android & iPhone apps. The mention feature will work in the exactly same way as it does on Facebook and Twitter. Users will have to use “@” sign in a group chat and the app will automatically suggest names of the group members. At the moment, this feature is currently limited to group chats only.

This new feature will make it easier to get the attention of someone in the group by mentioning them. Please note that this feature is only visible to Android users who are running version 2.16.259 and above while iPhone users will require WhatsApp version 2.16.10 and above.
Other recent notable updates from WhatsApp include message quotes and replies. The feature allowed users to quote messages when replying. The message quotes and replies feature is self-explanatory and the user needs to long press a message in any conversation to see a reply option pop up alongside star, delete, forward, and copy.
