Meta Verified Service Begins Rolling Out at R225* Per Month

On Friday, Meta Platforms launched its subscription service in the US. This will allow Facebook as well as Instagram users to pay for verification in a similar way as Twitter.

This verified service will add a blue badge next to the user after they verify their accounts using a government ID. This will cost $11.99/per month (approximately R225/per month) on the web or $14.99/per month (approximately R280/per month) on iOS and Android.

Earlier this year, Meta Verified was rolled out in Australia and New Zealand.

Twitter had rolled out its Blue subscription service which allows users to pay for the blue check mark previously limited to verified accounts.

Late last year, Twitter Blue was originally launched, however this led to a surge in users impersonating celebrities and brands on the platform, which quickly led the company to halt the service. After some time, Twitter Blue was reintroduced with different coloured checks for individuals, companies and governments.
