Sony has officially unveiled its latest digital camera, the Cyber-shot DSC-KW11… shaped like a perfume bottle where the lens is featured in the place of the nozzle. The display is also on the same side, giving all those selfie addicts something to smile about!


The device will be available in Asia-Pacific countries from October (pre-order from August 22 to September 19), and will be available in Green, Pink, White, and Violet colours. It has been priced at CNY 5199 (approximately R9000) in China.

According to Sony, this camera does not only feature Swarovksi crystal elements in its design but has also been designed to help ‘fashionistas’ capture their ‘perfect selfie’ or their ‘OOTD (Outfit of the Day) shot’ to share on social networks.

NFC and Wi-Fi connectivity features that enable easy sharing of content between devices, and to social media or other accounts. NFC also enables a one-touch connection with smartphones or tablets, either for transferring content, or to use those devices as a Smart Remote Control – a feature that also works over the same Wi-Fi network.

The device will be able to boast about its four shooting modes:

  1. Intelligent Auto
  2. Scene Selection
  3. Beauty Effect
  4. Picture Effect

Beauty Effect in still image mode brings Skin Smoothing and Skin Toning, and in video mode brings Eye Widening, Face Slimming, and Shine Removal in addition. Picture Effect on the other hand brings such features as Toy Camera and Partial Colour.

The feature that seems to stand out on this Sony device is the Flick Touch Shutter feature, allowing users to quickly set up a selfie-timer by tapping and flicking their finger towards the wanted delay timing (2, 5, and 10 seconds) and number of images on the screen.
