Standard Bank Head recognised in elite directory and STEP SIG Comittee

Michael Giraud, Head of Fiduciary Services in Jersey for the Standard Bank Group, was named in a prestigious list of the world’s most esteemed industry leaders after being nominated by peers within the trust and private wealth sector.

As the title implies, the Private Client Global Elite directory is a list of the world’s leading private client specialists. Each year, the list is narrowed down to just 250 elite professionals from over 6 000 nominations and recommendations worldwide, making the recognition a prestigious achievement for both Michael and the Standard Bank Group.

He currently heads up the Trust expertise offered by Standard Bank in the Channel Islands, specialising in establishing estate and succession planning structures for African-connected families. The structures hold a diverse range of asset classes and are all bespoke to a family’s unique needs. The families are often ultra-high-net-worth and are also connected to the United Kingdom, North America, the Middle East, and Europe.

Michael has previously been named as a Top 35 under 35 Practitioner by Private Client Practitioner on multiple occasions and has also been elected to the STEP International Client Global Special Interest Group Steering Committee, the international Trust and Estate Planning industry’s leading professional body. This appointment follows a global election organised by STEP; Michael was among one of the five candidates receiving the highest number of votes.

“We are delighted that Michael has been selected for inclusion in the Private Client Global Elite directory, especially considering this is based on the views of our industry peers. To be named on a highly respected list of the world’s top private client and trust and estates litigation talent is notable but is also a testament to our private wealth professionals at Standard Bank,” commented Mike Nudlbichler, Head of International Personal Banking at Standard Bank.

“This recognition further highlights the quality of leadership across our group and how committed leaders like Michael are to the cause of supporting Africa’s growth by connecting our local clients to international markets and helping to fuel their financial success. With solid expertise and a proven +130-year track record offering trust services in Africa, Standard Bank is dedicated to driving wealth creation and economic stability on the continent,” concluded Mike.

Standard Bank’s Trusts team assists families with the establishment of complex and bespoke estate and succession planning structures including trusts, foundations, private trust companies and family investment companies.
