What is the Prepaid Internet Starter Pack?
The Prepaid Internet Starter Pack is a bundle offer that includes a SIM card, a 2.4 GB Data bundle (200 MB over 12 months) and a 3G USB modem. The offer is only applicable in areas with Telkom Mobile network coverage.

What is the price of the Prepaid Internet Starter Pack?
The Prepaid Internet Starter Pack has a once-off cost of R399.

How much data do I get?
You’ll receive 200MB per month, for a period of 12 months.

Where can I get the Prepaid Internet Starter Pack?
The Prepaid Internet Starter Pack is available at Telkom Direct, Telkom Express and 8ta Flagship stores.

How do I know if Telkom Mobile coverage is available in my area?
To check your Telkom Mobile network coverage please click here for a coverage map. You can also SMS your street address and suburb or SMS your GPS coordinates to 43482. You’ll receive an SMS advising if you have coverage. (SMS charged at applicable rates)

What device will I receive with the Prepaid Internet Starter Pack?
A 3G USB modem is included with the pack.

When will I receive the monthly data allocation?
On the first day of every month.

How do I activate the Prepaid Internet Starter Pack?
Once your SIM card is RICAd, insert the SIM card into your modem. Connect to your USB port on your PC, laptop or notebook and connect to the internet via the modem dashboard.

Is LTE available on the Prepaid Internet Starter pack?
No, the LTE service is not yet available on Prepaid.

What will I be charged for data when I’ve used up all my in-bundle monthly data?
Out-of-bundle data is charged at a rate of R1 per MB.

What is the default Prepaid tariff plan on my Prepaid Internet Starter pack?
The Prepaid Internet Starter Pack is on the 8ta more Prepaid tariff plan and 8ta more rules are applicable.

Can I buy additional Data bundles when my monthly data runs out?
Yes. You can purchase All Network internet bundles (for the Telkom Mobile network and MTN roaming) OR Telkom Mobile Network Only internet bundles (you’ll need to check for coverage here).

How do I recharge my account with airtime?
Option 1:

  • Buy a recharge voucher
  • Dial *188*[RECHARGE VOUCHER PIN]# under the USSD tab on your modem dashboard

Option 2:

  • SMS your recharge voucher PIN to 188, under the USSD tab on your modem dashboard

Option 3:

  • Insert your SIM card into a handset/cellphone
  • Dial 188, listen to the welcome message and follow voice prompts
  • Use your phone’s end-call button/action on completion

Option 4:

  • Log in to the Telkom Mobile Self Service Portal at http://www.telkommobile.co.za/login/
  • Purchase recharge airtime via EFT or credit card
  • And/or redeem your recharge airtime PIN

How do I purchase an internet Data bundle?
Option 1:

  • Dial *180# under the USSD tab on your data modem dashboard
  • elect Bundle Purchase
  • Under the Bundle type option, select Data
  • Follow the on-screen display to complete your once-off Data and/or Wi-Fi bundle purchase

Option 2:

  • Log in to the Telkom Mobile Self Service Portal at http://www.telkommobile.co.za/login/
  • Purchase a once-off Data and/or Wi-Fi bundle from available airtime

Option 3:

  • Insert your SIM card into a handset/cellphone, then dial *180#
  • Select Bundle Purchase
  • Under the Bundle type option, select Data
  • Follow the on-screen display to complete your once-off Data and/or Wi-Fi bundle purchase

How do I check my airtime, data or Wi-Fi balance?
Option 1:

  • Log in to the Telkom Mobile Self Service Portal at http://www.telkommobile.co.za/ login/ to view your data and/or Wi-Fi balance

Option 2:

  • Send an SMS via your modem dashboard to 188 to receive your data and/or Wi-Fi balance

Option 3:

  • Dial *188# under the USSD tab on your data modem dashboard

Option 4:

  • Insert your SIM card into a handset/cellphone then dial *188# or send an SMS to 188

How do I contact customer support?
To contact the Customer Support Line on 180, please remove the SIM card from your modem and insert it into a handset/cellphone device. Calls to the Telkom Mobile Data Support line are only free from a Telkom Mobile number. You can phone Customer Care on 081 180 from any other network, but these calls will be charged at applicable service provider rates.
