Five years after the Olympics Games in London, adidas return to the UK capital to celebrate athletics and support their professional athletes from around the world including current 400m world-record holder Wayde Van Niekerk, Olympic gold-medallist sprinters Shaunae Miller from the Bahamas, Tori Bowie from the US, Yohan Blake from Jamaica and as well as Kenyan long-distance runner, Daniel Wanjiru, sprinter Akani Simbine and hurdlers Kendra Harrison and Sally Pearson, amongst many more.

Driven by creativity, innovation and an ever-growing commitment to their roster of professionals, adidas’ mission is clear – to provide their athletes with the lightest and fastest products to help them improve their performance and achieve their greatness. To celebrate one of the brand’s most talked-about athletes, adidas held an event at The Olympic Park with Wayde Van Niekerk on Wednesday 02nd August who officially opened the adidas Fast Zone, a centre comprising athlete services equipment, wellbeing areas and product test zones – all which are provided to further support the team of professionals achieve their best results throughout the fortnight.

During the exclusive experience, the sprinter took part in a series of 43.03 second challenges – to dramatize his world record – before opening up about his ambitions for the fortnight in a live Q&A. On the tournament, Wayde Van Niekerk said, “Growth and developing as an athlete has always been my key focus and adidas has been a true partner in supporting my journey. I’m really excited to be in London for the IAAF World Championships and I’m looking forward to getting out onto the iconic track to compete.”
